So, the reason it works (at least loading the videos) in Gizmo VR is that they are using a more regular browser? There are still problems there, but, it seems like they get access to at least a version of the videos that is suppsed to work on a regular desktop browser. ![]() Streaming video from URL (when supported by platform)Īs long YouTube doesn't want to work with DeoVR, we won't be able to provide YouTube support. The video engine used in DeoVR doesn't support webm, nor does YouTube allow us access to their platform (ie mp4 streams) ![]() Many video download browser plugins don't even work any more on Youtube either. And youtube is actively blocking access to the mp4 files as of late. The video engine used in Deo, that works in a Unity environment doesn't support webm. The issue is that Unity has no API support for browsers, or at least very limited. They are already using Chromium on Android/Oculus versions of the app. I asked them if they couldn't use Chromium on 'tube' sites. Meanwhile I had a talk with the devs too for some more detailed insight in the browser functionality of DeoVR. Just like you have webgames in HTML5, you could do the same with Deo but in VR. And I'm not talking about webpages, but an actual space you can move around in. You could make VR websites and Deo would be able to run it. Originally posted by g95613e: So, what does that suggest? Thanks for clarification.ĭeoVR works quite a bit differently than any other video player, it is built with Unity and is quite literally a virtual environment, like a VR game.
